Dr. Groth is a native of Metro Detroit and the son of a local dentist. He attended Cranbrook-Kingswood school and then Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia where he was an academic all-American. He was also a four-year varsity athlete, attending two NCAA national championships and earning multiple all-America swim awards.
He attended dental school at the University Of Michigan where he graduated at the top of his class. His main course of study at U of M was the leading edge of orthodontics: the benefits of robotically bent, custom wires in orthodontics. Quick to embrace new technology, Dr. Groth leads our team in harnessing the latest innovations in digital impressions.
His innovative thinking has allowed us to make our own clear trays for minor movement and then 3D print the models for aligners and retainers to save our patients money and treatment time.
As a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics since 2012, Dr. Groth has lectured regularly to the second-year residents at the University Of Michigan School of Dentistry. He’s a published author, and his articles have appeared as the cover stories for the Journal of Clinical Orthodontics. He also speaks nationally on the benefits of 3D technology in orthodontics.
Dr. Groth enjoys running and cycling with friends and his wife Kelly. Both have a passion for running races in support of local charities, and you’ll see them running in their TDR t-shirts. They are the proud parents of two beautiful children, daughter Reese and son TJ.
